What to do in Hokkaido, Japan

This June of 2018, I went to Hokkaido, Japan with my family. Let me share with you guys where I suggest going!!!

Hokkaido, Japan: Best known for their Milk and dairy products and their snowy holidays. Photo credits: https://allabout-japan.com/en/article/115/

First stop, a crab-eating place at the centre of Sapporo, Hokkaido. It is called Sapporo Kani Honke Susukino.

This place is really easy to find. It is a large building with a large fake crab beside the name. Photo credits: http://www.kani-honke.jp/cn/
As you see, this is very tempting. I am sure there is an online version where you can preorder  your food. It should set you back at 6500 yen-ish. It has a few branches in Japan and the food is delicious. It has different crab and sushi set meals and the food is mostly cold. There are different kinds of crabs like the hairy crab, winter crab, soft crab etc. Photo credits: http://www.kani-honke.jp/cn/menu/

Next my family chose to see a chocolate factory or rather an exhibition. It is located in Shiroi Koibito Park, and named Ishiya Chocolate factory and it is kids-friendly. There you will learn the method of manufacturing the white chocolate. Unfortunately when we came, the chocolate factory was closed and we could only look at the exhibitions. However downstairs is this place great for photographs.

Pretty right? There is a souvenir shop at the bottom where you can get cakes, confectionaries, puddings, ice cream and of course its famous white chocolate biscuits. You can also purchase the white chocolates at the airport but the cakes and others are sold in the factory only. This is the walk through where you can see the manufacturing process, the one I unluckily didn’t see it. Photo credits: https://matcha-jp.com/cn/1485
This is the chocolate biscuit. It is sweet, but not too sweet for the liking. It also has another flavouring which is half milk chocolate and half white chocolate. The tickets for students are about 200 yen and for full ticket is 600-ish yen. Photo credits: https://www.tianxun.com/news/7-days-romantic-and-classic-hokkaido-tour.

Next we proceeded to the countryside. The way we got there is by hiring a private car and a driver to drive from our hotel to our next countryside resort. Along the way we stopped at many stops:

This place is best to visit at the season bloom. This place is called Farm Tomita, and you can buy its lavender soft ice cream. There is also a llama course which is not free, but very cheap. This is a perfect place to go if you want a free photoshoot for you with the flowers. Looks so picturesque right? This is Blue Pond, it is a man-made pond feature in Biei, Hokkaido, Japan. It is the result of works on the Biei River, carried out after the 1988 eruption of Mount Tokachi, to protect the town of Biei from volcanic mudflows. The immersive waters are just picture-perfect. Next stop, we have: Shikisai no oka!!! Flower garden featuring patterned rows of colourful blossoms, plus alpacas, a small shop & eatery The address is: Japan, 〒071-0473 Hokkaido, Kamikawa District, Biei, Shinsei, 第3. Just remember: it closes quite early, at 4pm so do visit it in the mning or early afternoon. Photo credits: https://www.liviatravel.com/2014/07/japan-shikisai-no-oka-flower-gardens.html
Meet: Patchwork no Machi !!! The address is: Japan, 〒071-0200 Hokkaido, 上川郡美瑛町 . It opens to everyone 24/7 so anytime is fine. But I would suggest mornings. Photo credits: http://amoswords.blogspot.com/2014/07/day9.html
The Asahiyama Zoo is a municipal zoo opened in July 1967 in Asahikawa, Hokkaidō, Japan, and is the northernmost zoo in the country. In August 2004, over 320,000 people visited the zoo, the second highest number of visitors among all the zoos in Japan. This zoo has a lot of cute fluffy animals: eg. arctic fox, polar bears, penguins, etc. Worth a visit! Photo credits: http://www.manyoua.com/mzs/mdd/oneDay_detail/city/1001/id/2239

This probably sums up my trip there as I was unfortunately there for only 4 days and coming from Tokyo and going back there, I did not do much shopping here.
