What to do in Paris, France

Paris, France. (Salut! Est-ce que tu parles francais?) I love France, especially Paris. That’s why it was my third language to learn. Photo credits: https://www.mandarinoriental.com/paris/place-vendome/luxury-hotel

Honestly, spending 8 Days 7 Nights in France is not too bad, but we  didn’t arrange too much places to go to so most of the time we just chilled in the hotel ordering room service. The reason was because we didn’t arrange transport that carefully and only one of the days we had full day private car driving us from place to place. So we thought we probably can’t figure out how to get around and arrange most of the time on travelling. But we did got our way around.

Let’s first talk about the aeroport (airport). Charles de Gaulle Airport is quite a nice comfy airport. From there if you want to get to city centre, you have three transfer options, train, bus or taxi. One cheap transfer option is taking the regional RER train. This takes around 50 minutes to reach the city and costs only 10€. Another cheap transfer option is the bus. Bus tickets cost from 11.50€ and journey time is around 70 minutes. There is also the Le Bus Direct, a faster service that is direct, but costs 17€. The fastest way to reach the city centre is by taxi. A taxi from Charles de Gaulle to Paris is charged by a flat rate and will cost you 60€. But since that day we got the chauffeur hired, getting around wasn’t that of a problem. Photo credits: https://www.welcomepickups.com/paris/charles-de-gaulle-airport-transfer-to-city/
Straight after from putting our baggage in the hotel, we headed here. In case if you are curious which hotel we stayed, I will mention later. Standing at the western end of the Champs-Élysées, the Arc de Triomphe is the largest triumphal arch in the world, twice the size of the Arch of Constantine in Rome on which it’s modeled. Commissioned by Napoleon I and designed by Jean-François-Thérèse Chalgrin, the monument forms part of Paris’ Axe historique, which extends from the courtyard of the Louvre to the Grande Arche at La Défense. Photo credits: https://theculturetrip.com/europe/france/paris/articles/a-brief-history-of-paris-arc-de-triomphe/
Le Cinq. Literally for fine dining. It has excellent service, classy and extravagant dining place. It is vegetarian-friendly and is listed as 3 Michelin stars, and according to TripAdvisor, is rated 4-5 stars. Definitely worth a try if you want exquisite French dining. This is the address: 31 Avenue George V, 75008 Paris, France. Photo credits: https://cumbriafoodie.com/2016/04/17/le-cinq-george-v-paris-best-of-the-best/
Louvre Museum. Home of the Mona Lisa. The Louvre, or the Louvre Museum, is the world’s largest art museum and a historic monument in Paris, France. A central landmark of the city, it is located on the Right Bank of the Seine in the city’s 1st arrondissement. The address is: Rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris, France. Photo credits: https://www.parispass.de/paris-attractions/Louvre-Museum.html
Eiffel Tower. Probably the most famous landmark of France. My suggestion is to go at Summer so you get to climb higher while paying same price as Winter. Why? Because of Science. Contraction and expansion. Although it doesn’t matter if it is day or night actually. If you want a good night shot, then just go at night. Photo credits: https://www.viator.com/Paris-attractions/Eiffel-Tower/d479-a89
Four Seasons Hotel George V. (For some reason, my French keyboard cannot be enabled at this point of time). This was the hotel that owned Le Cinq, the elegant restaurant I recommended before. I think for two adults and includes breakfast might set you back at 1000-ish to 2000-ish euro. Photo credits: https://www.kiwicollection.com/hotel-detail/four-seasons-hotel-george-v-paris
Next  Dining place, Epicure…. This restaurant has 3 Michelin Stars, very classy, pretty, has an overall good review by TripAdvisor Users. I mean I went there, and personally, it was a pleasant experience, the staff was full of humour, service was impeccable. The price tag is hefty like the Le Cinq but both are highly recommended. I especially enjoyed the 20 euro coffee for two. (I was drinking alone but I still finished it). It is kind of weird, because I don’t usually like coffee, but this coffee was a cannot to be missed. So give it a try! This place is available at dinner time and lunch time. But I prefer it’s lunch time meals. I would definitely come back XD!!! Photo credits: https://www.tripadvisor.com.sg/Restaurant_Review-g187147-d719052-Reviews-Epicure-Paris_Ile_de_France.html
Il Etait Un Square. Omg, this place is like my favourite burger/steakhouse in Paris. If you want to pre-reserve a table, you can do that online. Photo credits and reviews from TripAdvisor: https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g187147-d6575305-i123572241-Il_Etait_Un_Square-Paris_Ile_de_France.html (Most of the reviews are in French) But I think overall I would give this place a 4-5 star. Not my most recommended but I still recommend this against the sake of health. Xp
Petit Boutary… I went there and to admit, this is pretty nice, looks vintage. I was looking up at TripAdvisor for this restaurant and I realised it was ranked #1 out of all the 10K Plus restaurants in all of Paris. I am not a fan of caviar, but this caviar made me change my mind about this dish. Galician aged beef w/ some delicious French wines, (I did not try the wine :(. But the beef is just too good.) Photo credits: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187147-d14643721-Reviews-Petit_Boutary-Paris_Ile_de_France.html
Disneyland Paris… Honestly, not my style, because I am not really looking for kids stuff. But just decided to go for a try. I got to say, not really as expected like Tokyo Disneyland or Florida Disneyland. Well, definitely go if you have kids. Photo credits: https://jonesinternational.co.uk/tours/disneyland-paris-five-day-holiday/
Latin Quarters. We only past by, didn’t really stopped to see. But looked like an interesting place, that might aroused some people’s interest. According to TripAdvisor, the users described it to be a very touristy place. It has some restaurants, bistro where you can grab a quick meal of pizzas, crepes or sandwiches. Photo credits: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g187147-d189685-Reviews-Latin_Quarter-Paris_Ile_de_France.html

I felt that most of our time in Paris, we did not make full use of time and just as what I said, spent them instead in our hotel. That basically sums up my Paris trip. I actually love Paris, will return soon.

What to do in Turtle Island, Maldives

Turtle Island!! Maldives, clear waters, snorkelling…. Photo credits: https://www.booking.com/hotel/mv/angsana-velavaru.zh-cn.html?aid=357012;label=gog235jc-hotel-XX-mv-angsanaNvelavaru-unspec-sg-com-L%3Azh-O%3AwindowsS10-B%3Aedge-N%3AXX-S%3Abo-U%3AXX-H

Maldives is one of my favourite places to go to…. Ahhh… that peace and quiet, isolation from the rest of the planet.

Just in case if you are wondering, my hotel is the Resort Angsana Velavaru. Not sponsored but I am happy to say they have good service, good food and good activities planned.

This is a perfect place for young couples looking for a place to spend their honeymoon, this is the place. The villa is spacious, with an open ocean deck that you can sit whenever you wished. The view is spectacular, magnificient I would say. The waters are blue, you have a private swimming pool to yourself, why not? Photo credits: https://www.angsana.com/en/maldives/velavaru (This is their official website so go check it out!)
1. Well, you might be asking, what do we do on the island? Basically, your villa is really far away from the turtle island, so you will have to take the routinely boat that comes to and fro from the island to get you to the opposite side. You can do some snorkelling. And you can chance upon many sea creatures. Photo credits: http://blog.crownandchamparesorts.com/2017/05/7-fun-ways-to-experience-maldives-sea-turtles/
2. Banana Boating.. What’s more fun than staying afloat on the picturesque waters of Maldives? Banana Boating is safe, as long as you are wearing a life jacket and not threading water. Photo credits: https://www.angsana.com/en/maldives/velavaru/activities/things-to-do-in-angsana-velavaru-for-friends
3. Whale Shark Snorkelling. Don’t worry, whale sharks are friendly creatures, and they usually feed on small shrimps and fishes and are not commonly seen biting on humans so you should be fine. Chancing upon a whale shark is an experience in a life time. (For me, at least) Photo credits: https://traveltips.usatoday.com/snorkeling-whale-sharks-maldives-62991.html
4. Scuba Diving. (I have no idea why the turtle look so annoyed hahah) Discover the underwater treasures of the Maldives. Dive with your friends and experience a one of a kind group bonding. Photo credits: http://www.dive-the-world.com/diving-sites-malaysia.php
5. Jet Skiing. They are a ton of fun if you were to go with your family and friends. Feel the thrill as you speed across the lagoon on a jetski. Photo credits: http://www.oceanwatersport.com/jet-ski-dolphin-safari-hurawalhi/
6. Cooking Classes. There’s no better way to experience the local culture than to learn how to prepare Maldivian dishes. Show off your culinary skills as you proceed to learn more about local dishes. Photo credits: https://www.angsana.com/en/maldives/velavaru/activities/things-to-do-in-angsana-velavaru-for-friends
7. Night fishing. Enjoy the sun set while making catches to bring back. Let your chef whip up your dinner with your fresh catch. Photo credits: https://www.angsana.com/en/maldives/velavaru/activities/things-to-do-in-angsana-velavaru-for-friends
7. Dolphin Cruise. Last but not least, dolphin cruising. Skim through the waves on a luxury boat or speedboat. Get the chance to watch dolphin up close and personal. See these marvellous mammals skipping through the water surface gloriously. Photo credits: https://www.angsana.com/en/maldives/ihuru/activities/activities—family

It’s a short one I admit, but there are many more activities you can do in Maldives and it can be all according to your interesting.

What to do in Hokkaido, Japan

This June of 2018, I went to Hokkaido, Japan with my family. Let me share with you guys where I suggest going!!!

Hokkaido, Japan: Best known for their Milk and dairy products and their snowy holidays. Photo credits: https://allabout-japan.com/en/article/115/

First stop, a crab-eating place at the centre of Sapporo, Hokkaido. It is called Sapporo Kani Honke Susukino.

This place is really easy to find. It is a large building with a large fake crab beside the name. Photo credits: http://www.kani-honke.jp/cn/
As you see, this is very tempting. I am sure there is an online version where you can preorder  your food. It should set you back at 6500 yen-ish. It has a few branches in Japan and the food is delicious. It has different crab and sushi set meals and the food is mostly cold. There are different kinds of crabs like the hairy crab, winter crab, soft crab etc. Photo credits: http://www.kani-honke.jp/cn/menu/

Next my family chose to see a chocolate factory or rather an exhibition. It is located in Shiroi Koibito Park, and named Ishiya Chocolate factory and it is kids-friendly. There you will learn the method of manufacturing the white chocolate. Unfortunately when we came, the chocolate factory was closed and we could only look at the exhibitions. However downstairs is this place great for photographs.

Pretty right? There is a souvenir shop at the bottom where you can get cakes, confectionaries, puddings, ice cream and of course its famous white chocolate biscuits. You can also purchase the white chocolates at the airport but the cakes and others are sold in the factory only. Photo credits: http://www.zipangguide.net/travel/sight/hokkaido/shiroikoibito_park.html
This is the walk through where you can see the manufacturing process, the one I unluckily didn’t see it. Photo credits: https://matcha-jp.com/cn/1485
This is the chocolate biscuit. It is sweet, but not too sweet for the liking. It also has another flavouring which is half milk chocolate and half white chocolate. The tickets for students are about 200 yen and for full ticket is 600-ish yen. Photo credits: https://www.tianxun.com/news/7-days-romantic-and-classic-hokkaido-tour.

Next we proceeded to the countryside. The way we got there is by hiring a private car and a driver to drive from our hotel to our next countryside resort. Along the way we stopped at many stops:

This place is best to visit at the season bloom. This place is called Farm Tomita, and you can buy its lavender soft ice cream. There is also a llama course which is not free, but very cheap. This is a perfect place to go if you want a free photoshoot for you with the flowers. Photo credits:https://chihako.wordpress.com/2015/09/22/day-73-furano-cheese-factory-and-farm-tomita/ (This dude has his own blog page so go check it out!!)
Looks so picturesque right? This is Blue Pond, it is a man-made pond feature in Biei, Hokkaido, Japan. It is the result of works on the Biei River, carried out after the 1988 eruption of Mount Tokachi, to protect the town of Biei from volcanic mudflows. The immersive waters are just picture-perfect. Photo credits: https://www.veltra.com/cn/asia/japan/hokkaido/sapporo/a/149579
Next stop, we have: Shikisai no oka!!! Flower garden featuring patterned rows of colourful blossoms, plus alpacas, a small shop & eatery The address is: Japan, 〒071-0473 Hokkaido, Kamikawa District, Biei, Shinsei, 第3. Just remember: it closes quite early, at 4pm so do visit it in the mning or early afternoon. Photo credits: https://www.liviatravel.com/2014/07/japan-shikisai-no-oka-flower-gardens.html
Meet: Patchwork no Machi !!! The address is: Japan, 〒071-0200 Hokkaido, 上川郡美瑛町 . It opens to everyone 24/7 so anytime is fine. But I would suggest mornings. Photo credits: http://amoswords.blogspot.com/2014/07/day9.html
The Asahiyama Zoo is a municipal zoo opened in July 1967 in Asahikawa, Hokkaidō, Japan, and is the northernmost zoo in the country. In August 2004, over 320,000 people visited the zoo, the second highest number of visitors among all the zoos in Japan. This zoo has a lot of cute fluffy animals: eg. arctic fox, polar bears, penguins, etc. Worth a visit! Photo credits: http://www.manyoua.com/mzs/mdd/oneDay_detail/city/1001/id/2239

This probably sums up my trip there as I was unfortunately there for only 4 days and coming from Tokyo and going back there, I did not do much shopping here.

What to do in Tokyo, Japan?

Tokyo Japan!!! Photo Credits:https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2017/10/12/national/tokyo-still-top-global-power-city-asia-takes-third-spot-rankings-worldwide/#.XATpn0puL4g

This June of 2018, my family and I went to Japan after my examinations and here are some sites I would suggest in visiting when touring Tokyo, Japan!!!

First stop we hit Ueno, Taitō, Tokyo and there was this place that we went which is known as the Ameyoko Shopping place. It is a street that you could purchase some of Tokyo’s snacks and candies and of course confectionaries!!

Ameyoko Shopping Street!! Photo credits: Live Japan

Well here is the place if you are looking for something cheap and from photo reference, it is tax-free!! Niki no Kashi was one of the place that is located there and is one of Tokyo’s most famous sweet shops.

Next stop, we head to Ginza, is a district of Chūō, Tokyo, located south of Yaesu and Kyōbashi, west of Tsukiji, east of Yūrakuchō and Uchisaiwaichō, and north of Shinbashi. It is a popular upscale shopping area of Tokyo, with numerous internationally renowned department stores, boutiques, restaurants and coffeehouses located in its vicinity. It is considered one of the most expensive, elegant, and luxurious streets in the world.

I didn’t look at it too carefully so it is blurred, but Ginza is a worthwhile place to visit if you are looking for high class cafes and restaurants!!! Photo credits:https://jw-webmagazine.com/10-best-restaurants-in-ginza-area-7bf5c5079414

Next stop we headed to a historical place, Meiji Shrine also known as Meiji Jingu. It is located in Shibuya, Tokyo, is the Shinto shrine that is dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shōken. The shrine does not contain the emperor’s grave, which is located at Fushimi-momoyama, south of Kyoto. It is more better to head there when flowers bloomed and there is this beautiful blossom out there where you can walk.

Meiji Shrine located in Shibuya!!! Photo Credits:https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3002.html

We then head to the Tokyo SkyTree and there is a spectacular birds-eye view of the whole Tokyo. Basically, the way you get up there is you take the elevator, head to a small way leading out and there you will see a restaurant, there sits a ticket booth where you purchase your tickets and you ask the person at the ticket booth for where to go and she will direct you there. I brought the tickets before-hand so before we went up, we went to this mall next to the Skytree and there are many arts and craft shops, food that you can take away and then the Pokémon Centre of Tokyo!!! There are two places of this mall I really like which I would be featuring later!!! Also, at the bottom of the Skytree, there is this Tokyo Banana Cake that my family came for. They come in different flavours and come around 500 yen.

Tokyo SkyTree!!! Photo credits:https://www.kkday.com/vi/product/10759
Here’s a picture of the Banana Cake I was talking about. Unfortunately, they are quite small and sometimes have limited editions. They can also be purchased at the airport. Photo credits:https://www.yamibuy.com/cn/goods.php?id=163852

The other favourite place is a Grill Place that has really qualitied and juicy beef available for grilling by yourself. Sadly, I didn’t manage to get the name after many rounds of search.

There are many more shops and cafes and restaurants I would wish to show you but I don’t want to make this travel blog so long, so instead, I would show you one of my preferred ones.

Moomin House Café. It is on the ground floor and it would be worth a visit if you have kids. The interior let’s you feel the warmth of the natural woods from the story of the Moomins. Adults can also have some peace and quiet while eating the too-good-for-eating food. If you search it up, it is so cute!!!! Photo credits:https://matcha-jp.com/en/1674

The next 4 days, we moved on to touring Hokkaido before returning to Tokyo and then returning to Singapore. (I would soon release another travel blog about Hokkaido because this is my first one and I already spent two hours on editing and cropping photos, researching and stuff)

The second time we came back to Tokyo, we stayed at The Intercontinental Hotel.

(This is an amazing photo, I am so impressed.) This hotel has good exterior, and interior. (I am happy that my suite got upgraded) And if you order a room, I do suggest getting the one with ocean view because it give you good opportunity for a magnificient photoshoot for Instagram!!! At its public balconies, you can see the Tokyo SkyTree from ground level. For breakfast, there is this restaurant which is a buffet restaurant with ocean view. Photo credits: https://www.ihg.com/intercontinental/hotels/gb/en/tokyo/tyohb/hoteldetail
Totti Candy Factory!! This place is located at Harajuku. Despite its small size, it accommodates a lot of Japanese students and is very popular among tourists. The two storey building consists of two components, upstairs sits a cotton candy making factory, it is a walk through and there are packages like rainbow layered cotton candy and three flavoured take away bottle that sets you back to 1000 plus yen. It also has accessories that is optional, where you can either take the candies away or put them in your cotton candy. Downstairs sits this place where you can get ice cream and customise your accessories you put in it. To get there, exit from Harajuku station, walk straight into a small narrow street, and keep looking at your right till you find it. Photo credits: https://www.8days.sg/eatanddrink/newsandopening/giant-cotton-candy-from-japan-s-totti-candy-factory-super-fun-to-10112416

To cat lovers, attention please! I went to a cat café not far from the previous attraction, Totti Candy Factory. Also located in Harajuku, I believe it to be the same street as the candy factory. This is the address: Japan, 〒150-0001 東京都渋谷区 神宮前1-14-25 クロスアベニュー原宿 4F  (Sorry my Japanese keyboard might look kind of weird.)

MoCHA cat café!!! This place looks extremely extravagant. The cats are well fed and taken care of by the store owners. Photo credits:www.japantrends.com/mocha-designer-cat-cafe-harajuku/

I hope you guys like it:p Please leave a like, comment and follow !!

Reconciliation

“I want to go London, why can’t you be any other mom?” I cried in a savage, high voice.

Her eyes were drawn, hurt and dark. Mainly hurt.

Agony coursed through my veins like a furious snake as I crashed down with tears burning my cheeks.

My latest demand had been to ask to pay for a trip to London as part of an art appreciation trip organised by the local art community. To my chagrin, Mother objected, as she helpless sigh to my persistent whines. My request for a new phone was already enough to drain her entire year salary. She looked worn, exhausted out by my demands for more and more things to fulfil my insatiable materialistic longings.

The retreated figure cast a lonesome shadow on the wall as sunshine on the wall as the sunshine streamed into my room, lighting it up with a cheerful glow as the heat of the warm evening sun gradually fizzled out, bringing on dusk’s silent company when I threw open my room curtains.

Sullenly brooding over the recent conflict, I continued to mull over how futile my efforts to convert Mother to my way of thinking had been. The generation gulf was simply too wide to close up.

The muffled sob outside my door told me Mother was still standing there, probably reluctant to leave, keeping an ear out for my unreasonable ranting and raving, so I intentionally intensified my yells and lamentations till it rose to an unbearable crescendo of screams.

Memories of Mother’s unconditional love, tolerance and care for me descended like a blanket over my still, cold interior. Despite worrying for our financial problems, love for me had compelled her to pushed on. Taking three jobs in a single day, Mother worked daytime as a taxi driver, attending endless streams of customers at the taxi stations, her afternoons as a cashier serving packs of customers at a small supermarket. At night, she spent long hours working at her sewing machine, sewing clothes for a tailor from the nearby shop.

The wrinkles that lined her once beautiful face divulged her age while her workaholic face reflected the years she had selflessly devoted to make ends meet.

Sometimes, when Mother managed to make the extra for that new mobile phone I requested for, I would be left there alone–winner of the field, enjoying my conqueror’s solitude.

First, I smiled to myself and felt elate; but this fierce pleasure subsided in me as fast as did the accelerated throb of my pulses.  A child cannot quarrel with their elders, as I done; cannot give their furious feelings uncontrolled play, as I had given mine; without experiencing the pang of remorse and the chill of reaction. A ridge of lit health, alive, glancing, devouring, would have been a meet emblem of my mind when I demanded Mother for things that I knew to her cost an arm and a leg. The same ridge, black and blasted after the flames are dead, would have represented as meetly my subsequent condition, when half an hour’s silence and reflection had shown me the madness of my conduct, and the dreariness of my hated and hating poison.

Something of ferocity I had tasted for the first time; as aromatic wine it seemed, on swallowing, warm and racy–its after-flavour, metallic and corroding, gave me a sensation as if I had been poisoned.

Mustering all the courage that I had, I strolled slowly over to her room, where she was working tirelessly at her sewing machine. The monotonous whirring of the machine intensified the love that she represented, a relentless and sacrificial love that she exhibited in exchange for my turbulent impulse nature.

“Mother?”

“Yes?”

“Forget about the new phone model.”

“Why? You would need it for your projects. Well, I would have enough money after I am done with this batch of blankets.”

“There is no point for you to slave so hard, a person whom I love do not deserve that no matter at what cost. Especially not for a stupid device.”

A look of astonishment stayed on Mother’s face.

Tears gleamed in her eyes as Mother flung her arms around me –an involuntary act of helpless devotion as my words reached the depths of her parched.

So we stood there, as dusk fell silently and enveloped us, locking in an intimately warm embrace of love.

Truly, it was a moment of reconciliation, a time where the music of love resonated deep within our souls, played by an orchestra of motherly love.

Tips on how to be a better writer!!!

Well up to recent, I couldn’t really fantasize out something to write about. (I was actually about to write an expository essay, but I really can’t think of anything better than that)

So what I really decided to do is to write this tip/advice blog for beginner writers out there…

Well, for starters, ask yourself why do you decide to write. To create a personal space? Or just in a pursuit of passion? After you decided that, it could be more easier to focus on a theme that you are going to start writing about. Well, if you are like Anne Frank, then you might consider starting by something small. Like a diary. If you are like a Lawyer/Writer person that I met before, you gave up a prestigious job for writing. Just write something according to your passion, what you love to read.

Secondly, don’t expect you can turn into a successful author like J.K Rowling, especially not in a short amount of time. You need a lot of practice!!! For me, writing has been a long journey for me. I attended a lot of talks from experienced authors. One of them told me when she first wrote her book of 13000 words, it was declined. The publishing house really liked her idea, but they found it dull and rather uninteresting and will probably not look good on the bookshelf. She had to take it the hard way. I mean you painstakingly made the draft, of course you hope it would be accepted. But, the world will sometimes not go according to the way you hope. But from the loads of rejections, you will eventually learn of your mistake and correct it next time.

Thirdly, make reading a habit for yourself. Most authors are fervent about reading, especially topics they write about. You can start small with probably 10 books per month, and soon enough you will discover the different styles different authors have for writing. You can even have you own too! From looking at other people’s writing, you tend to find some mistakes and take it to your head so you don’t make mistakes they did!

Now that the tips in front have helped you be a step ahead of others, don’t forget this: when you actually get your books on the marketplace, there would be necessary amounts of hateful comments coming in. On this point, I have heard some authors saying just don’t take it to your head, ignore them. Which is pretty fine by me because some people could result in replying to them, just making the situation worst than before. However, other authors say that when you receive criticism, just listen to them, because you need that amount of hate to realise your mistakes and correct them in the future. So don’t think everyone online expressing their hate just for the sake of hating, they can be people that lead to you earning that fame that you always crave for.

Also another tip that might help, is that you need that moderate amount of time every day or week to write. Writing isn’t about the day you feel like nothing but write and the next day you are gone doing something else. Just like a nail. If you don’t use it for too long, you will find it rusting. Like the mind too. If you don’t use it, it will be more useless when you really want to.

Identify your audiences. Finding the perfect audience would allow you to focus on a theme to write about. For example, are your targets children? Adults? Teens? Then search up. Don’t worry if you see too much pie charts and statistics. It will help.

Finding the true audience that reads your writings, is better than people being your fans when no one actually cares about your reading. Just like on Instagram, if you have many followers but too little likes, you will find at least half of your followers are fake.

When your writings get rejected too many times, don’t give up!!! A lot of authors who grew up desiring to be one didn’t actually make it midway. Why? They gave up… Don’t give up so easily! Trust me, if you decided to switch your career around, with that same attitude of yours, you will never find a stable job!

When writing a non-frictional, search up the net. But when you write friction, use as much imagination as you can! If you are writing mostly frictional or only frictional, this would be very important. As I mentioned earlier, if you don’t use your brain, it will turn rusty. You will tend to rely on the internet, and after all, who would like to read the same idea again?

Don’t write your stories too fast. After you earn that fame and you start gaining fans, remember to write moderately. If you write your stories too fast, your intention was to get your fans excited, but you might end up losing them, because they think that you put too little effort into it, and thus affect the impression.

Well to end this, I would like to give thanks to anyone that supports me, and I would like to give you guys a quote:”Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.”
–Benjamin Franklin

(Clockwork Angel Book Review) by Cassandra Clare

First of all, I am a natural bookworm, so generally I am fine with most books and for course, (Mortal Instruments, all written by Cassandra Clare)

This series of books: The Mortal Instruments were published a few years back and the truth is, this is a really old book. The way I found it too, was simply strange. A week before or maybe a month ago, my exams were finally done and my mom just thought that perhaps I should spend my time meaningfully by reading. I wasn’t thrilled at the idea at first, because I would rather spend my time watching TV, but after a while, I decided that I must at least pick up a book or to. So I started searching, in the library, the internet and even my student care, until I found this series of books in my student care.

At the start, it was my mom who had urged me in the reading, but now it seems that it is myself who is obsessed with reading.

So at the start of the story came a strange setting, a dark alley. Now allow me to introduce the characters: Theresa Gray. Or short form Tessa Gray. She is a magical orphan girl from New York, America. British Shadow-hunters acknowledge her a Down-worlder, but not the fact that she’s an American.

Speaking of shape shifting. Tessa’s special shape shifting ability allows her to change into anyone she wants as long as she has an object they owned. She gains their memories and thoughts, and if they died, she sees how and feels it. If the person is a Down-worlder, she gains their abilities and attributes. At one point, she turns into Camille – a vampire – at one point, and her heart stops beating. She can connect with the living or dead, and touch their feelings. When she becomes herself again, she will for example if the dead person is strike on the knife or something, when Tessa comes back to herself, blood will be over her.

So, Tessa tries to trick Axel Mortmain by “killing” herself so Axel can’t have her. She fakes it using her shape shifting because apparently, when someone dies nice and bloody, she gets covered in it. There was lots of blood, but Axel didn’t check for a wound. Axel invents robots and he falls for a trick from Tessa, a girl who was stupid enough to scream in a room full of vampires. Tessa, who trusted her philandering older brother.

William Herondale! Will, as everyone calls him, reckless, rude, and utterly inappropriate. When he is really young, his father was a shadow-hunter before he married to a mundane and left the shadow-hunter group. He, however, kept a box that contained a demon. When William let it out, it jumped on him and he screamed until his sister, Ella came to rescue. She hit the demon hard but failed to kill it. The demon then told William that he will be cursed in the way that anyone who love him will die. But Ella stood up and killed it and hugged him before telling him never to touch his parents’ things. The next day, Ella was dead. William could not bear this fact that his whole family will die of love just like Ella, he ran from home to become a shadow-hunter. Being a shadow-hunter means William cannot love a mundane and will have to quit the shadow-hunter job just like his father because he will desire to live and die in the shadow-hunter’s life. It kinds of control him and people around him wouldn’t love him so they don’t have to die like Ella. And in order to accomplish that, he is rude and often kept his face a hard one. He has this parabatai, which is the meaning of blood brother, whose name is James. The next one is him.

James Carstairs. He is a half Chinese. He’s so nice. He even saves a cat. And then there’s the venom addiction. In a nutshell, James was tortured by a demon and his parents were forced to watch when he was eleven years old. He was fed by a demon a silver addictive drug. By the time he was saved, his body was addicted to the drug. If they try to wean him off it, the withdrawal is bad enough to kill him. His life and death depends on the drug, keeping his hair and eyes silver.

Jassamine Lovelace. There’s this dollhouse scene in the movie where Jassamine shows Tessa her dollhouse replica of the house she grew up in. She even had dolls of her mother, father, little brother, and her. She tells Tessa that her house burned down with them in it, and it’s the only thing left of them and her old life. She tells Tessa that sometimes she imagines that they wake up, go about their day, and then go to bed all safe. Nothing bad ever happens to them. Jessamine is desire to be married to a mundane(a human) and a mother without being a “shadow-hunter” which is quite unreasonable in her world because she is part angel. And all her relatives are shadow-hunters.

There’s more characters: Charlotte Branwell, who is 23 and not a very good leader; Henry Branwell, her husband who can’t get any of his inventions to work right; Sophie, the poor maid who can’t catch a break; [(Agatha, the cook; Thomas, Will’s cast-aside childhood pal) They were killed by some clockwork creatures known as automatons in the next book: Clockwork Prince]

Cassandra Clare has this habit of when she uses a strong active verb, she tacks on a simile at the end like no one will understand what she’s talking about. This habit are apparent in Clare’s obsession with appearance.

Scenery Viewing!

This morning was a cheery and a bit rainy morning. I woke up with an abrupt shake as I rubbed my eyes in weariness. With blurred vision, I spotted the familiar figure of my mom drawing the curtains. The birds on the tree branches were also chirping a sweet melody. As I slowly climbed out of the deeper folds of my warm blanket, I felt a cold gust of wind blowing against my face, completely took away my weariness. In the kitchen stood my mom and the cacophony of the dishes clanging together making me feel warm inside although the weather was quite cold to bear.

After a scrumptious breakfast of ham sandwich and milo dinosaur, I hurried out of my seat and stood by the window to admire the beautiful new day. Today was a special day. I don’t have to go to school, and it is nice to stay home in such a day.

Outside, there was a man dressed in proper attire, carrying his briefcase in one hand while sipping his coffee on the other. He hurriedly placed his briefcase in his car and with a roar, the engine came to life but the car could not inch a bit. The engine gave on finally splutter and died. Although I was at the 8th floor and the poor man at the ground floor, I could hear him shouting in anger as he bang his fist on the windscreen furiously. Poor dude.

I then change my attention on him and looked at another person. She was an middle-aged lady wearing floral prints on her skirt which exposed her flamboyant nature. She was holding a young looking toddler which I estimated to be 4 or 5 years old. The look on her face looked as if she is racing against time.

After a few more rounds of viewing, I eventually quit and left for my bed.

Freedom for Two Days (Yahoo!)

Well, for these two days, my class and another class were having their post PSLE exam activity which is going to Malacca for two day one night. But the thing is, my mom and I see eye to eye about not going for it because I think it is totally a waste of time and my mom is really concern about my safety. Most of my classmates are going, except for a few of us, who said that they don’t see a point of going to Malacca.

Through some of my friends on Instagram, I briefly saw the hotel room which was not pretty bad and I also thought that the place was not quite a bad place. But to compare going Malaysia and staying at home chilling and relaxing with the TV all by myself, who wouldn’t want to choose staying at home?

But most of my classmates who are going may not have think that way. They are probably like a bunch of little kids, who cares about fun more than the world. Anyways, I have been to Malaysia like a couple of times so I think going with the school is not as good as spending time with your family.

No offense and I am not criticizing the school at all but organizing this event really needs a lot of effort and time and money is spent for just two days one night. Before our PSLE even started, which is a really important exam, the teachers have been to occupied with the planning rather than our studies and the teaching. I am not totally putting the responsibility on the teachers, but they have to at least put studies in front of play first! Now, I bet if you tell the teachers, they would probably say this,” Oh! The travel agent needs the information earlier so we have to work on it before it gets too late because if we wait until the exam is over, the deadline will be probably expired!” But I will say this,” If you already have a plan for this trip then why don’t you prepare it by the start of the year and not wait until it is our examination time. Yup, this is my school’s teachers. They probably have a rule called:”Wait until the last minute to do things” or “Play first before studying!” This is giving the students a really bad example because if the teachers started planning during our exam period, then it will cause the students to be excited as well, making them turn their focus on PLAY than on STUDYING. Also, the students will probably not concentrate in class because they are thinking about the trip the whole time. Maybe, too, they will follow the teachers’ footsteps and have a really bad and hard to change habit that may follow them to adulthood, which alone can cause them to score badly for their exams and maybe can cause future failures in life.

So is this what the school wants us to learn for them and take to secondary school? That’s why I disagree to participate in this activity.

Moreover, if the school can’t even afford another CCA, they shouldn’t have considered this activity to be hosted. If the school wants us to bond with our classmates and leave the school with a remarkable experience, then they could have make us go for an old folks home trip or maybe to pick up rubbish which is way more meaningful to end the school year together. The school may think this is tiresome and they want to have fun instead, why not just have fun around Singapore and not going to travel so far to Malaysia just for two days one night and learn about Malacca, they could have also bring us to the Museum instead to learn about the history of other countries. If the school would rather have not even a full day playing in Malacca because most of the time is spent on the way to and back, then if it is me, I would rather everyone stay home instead.
